New MD appointed at MACAir Dubai, 15th December 2009 - Transguard Group, an Emirates Group company, has appointed Mike Callender as Managing Director of MACAir, a Dubai-based mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contractor, recently acquired by the group. UK national Callender, brings more than 30 years experience of engineering disclipines in mechanical and electrical (M&E) as well as heating, ventilation and A/C (HVAC) industries, 20 of those in senior management roles. Callender’s experience includes developing and steering new company start-ups through to strategic and operational roles within major multinationals, including Drake & Scull, GSH and Cofathec GDF. Commenting on the appointment, Managing Director of Transguard Group, Mike McGeever, said: “I am delighted that Mike has agreed to join us. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable as we look to develop a world class maintenance business to complement MACAir’s established project and installation capability.” Welcoming the challenge, Callender said: “The synergy between MACAir’s current business and Transguard’s facilities management and technology businesses offers a wealth of potential for the company going forward.” MACAir’s former Managing Director Geoff Frost has been appointed Vice Chairman and will continue to assist with the development of the company. MACAir, which turned over AED225 million last year, is a separate business unit within the Transguard Group operating alongside its other core business entities including facilities management, cash services and outsourced services.
